Welcome to Christ the King Nursery

Our Nursery is a community Nursery and should you wish your child to attend our school, Christ the King Voluntary Academy, you will need to apply online to Derbyshire County Council.  If you require any further information please contact the school office.

At Christ the King Nursery we aim to ;

  1. Create a warm and secure environment where we respond to the individual needs of the children.
  2. Provide a high quality Nursery experience where children can thrive and learn.
  3. Foster a spirit of 'life long learning' in our children.
  4. Build secure and trusting relationships with children and their families, valuing parents as their child's first and most valued educators.

ULTIMATELY we aim to be successful in supporting your child to 'reach for the stars' and develop a love for learning.

Our School Day

Children are eligible to attend for 15 or 30 free hours per week, the term after their 3rd birthday.

Our school days starts at 8:30 am and ends at 3:15 pm

For children eligible for 15 hours, our morning sessions run from 8:30 am until 11:30 am and afternoon sessions run from 12:15 pm until 3:15 pm.

What we learn

We provide high quality, purposefully planned play opportunities that enable children to develop and flourish. We place equal importance on both the inside and outside environments and ensure that each area stimulates the children's imaginations. Our Nursery environment enables children to be active learners, become independent and develop creative and critical skills. We introduce skills to prepare them for reading, writing, maths, science and many other areas of school life.

We follow the areas of learning and development identified in Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

"Children learn as they play. Most importantly in play children learn how to learn" O Fred Donaldson
